I Said Yes. To Him and to Italy.

I'm Moving My Floral Studio to Italy. Here's Why.

By Alison | The Floral Studio | Utah Wedding & Elopement Florist

I have been trying to figure out how to write this post for a while now. Not because I don't know what I want to say, but because every time I start typing it still feels a little surreal. Like if I say it out loud it becomes real and then I have to actually do it.

So here it is. I'm doing it.

At the end of this year I am moving The Floral Studio to Italy.

Not closing it. Not starting over. Moving it. Packing up everything I have built over the last three years in Utah and transplanting it, along with myself, into the Italian countryside. Specifically into Le Marche, a region in central Italy that most people have never heard of and that I am already completely obsessed with.

And yes, before you ask — there is a love story involved. Because of course there is. This is Italy we are talking about.

How This Actually Happened

I am a wedding florist. I have been doing this for three years, building something in Utah that I am genuinely proud of. Lush garden florals, destination elopements, brides who trust me with the most important day of their lives. It has been the most creatively fulfilling work I have ever done.

And then, the way life sometimes does, everything shifted at once.

I fell in love with someone who lives in Italy. I said yes when he asked me to marry him. And then I looked at my business, at the work I do and the clients I dream of attracting, and I realized something that felt almost too good to be true.

The couples I most want to work with, the ones with a romantic vision and a destination dream and flowers at the top of their priority list, are planning weddings in places like Tuscany and Sicily and the Amalfi Coast. They are searching for a florist who understands the Italian aesthetic, who knows how flowers grow and bloom and exist in that landscape, who can bring a lush garden romantic vision to an olive grove or a hilltop villa or a centuries old stone church.

What if that florist could actually live there?

The Wedding That Started Everything

This October I am getting married in Sicily. In an olive grove, which feels almost impossibly romantic and also like something I definitely made up but I promise is real.

I am designing my own wedding flowers, which as a florist is equal parts thrilling and completely terrifying. My palette is lush and romantic and deeply personal. There will be hydrangeas everywhere. There will be a floral installation in the olive branches above us. And there will be a very special moment in the florals that honors my late father, who I wish more than anything could be there.

Planning a wedding in Sicily while running a business in Utah while also preparing to move across the world has been a lot. I will not pretend otherwise. But it has also given me something I did not expect — a completely lived understanding of what it means to plan a destination wedding in Italy. The vendors, the flowers, the logistics, the language barrier, the beauty that is absolutely everywhere you look.

I am not just a florist who designs for Italian weddings. I am a bride who is having one. And soon I will be a florist who lives there.

What This Means for The Floral Studio

Starting in 2027 The Floral Studio will be based in Le Marche, Italy, with full availability for weddings and elopements throughout Italy including Tuscany, Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, and beyond.

I will also maintain availability for destination weddings in the United States, particularly Utah where my roots and my heart will always be. If you are dreaming of a Utah mountain elopement or a destination wedding anywhere in the American West, I am still absolutely your florist. Some things do not change.

What does change is that I will now be designing from a place of genuine immersion in Italian life, Italian florals, and the Italian approach to beauty and romance that I think is genuinely unmatched anywhere in the world. The flowers available in Italy, the seasonal blooms, the garden roses and peonies and wildflowers that grow in that extraordinary landscape, are going to change my work in ways I cannot even fully imagine yet. I cannot wait.

For the Brides Already Planning Italian Weddings

If you are reading this and you are planning a wedding or elopement in Italy, I want you to know that I would be so honored to be your florist.

I know what it feels like to navigate Italian vendors from across the world. I know the beauty and the chaos and the magic of planning a celebration in a country where everything moves at its own gorgeous pace. And I know that the florals at an Italian wedding should feel like they grew right there, from that soil, in that light, for exactly that moment.

That is what I am building toward. That is what The Floral Studio in Italy is going to be.

If your wedding is in 2027 or beyond and Italy is calling your name, reach out now. I am beginning to look at Italian dates and I would love to hear about your vision before my calendar fills.

A Note of Gratitude for Utah

I cannot write this post without saying something about the place that made me.

Utah gave me this business. Utah brides trusted me when I was brand new and figuring everything out. The mountains and the light and the landscape of this state are woven into my aesthetic in ways I probably do not even fully see yet. I will carry Utah with me to Italy in every arrangement I design.

If you are a Utah bride reading this, please know that I am still here, still booking, and still completely devoted to designing the most beautiful florals of your wedding day. This is not a goodbye. It is an expansion.

Come With Me

I am going to be documenting all of it. The move, the wedding, the flower markets in Italy, the process of building a business in a country where I am still learning the language. All of it, honestly and openly, right here on this blog and on my TikTok and Instagram.

If you want to follow along, I would genuinely love to have you.

This is the most terrifying and exciting thing I have ever done. And I cannot wait.
